when do i drink muscle builder smoothie, before,during or after work out?

and also … my friend told me you could also work out then after wards drink a protein shake and my muscles will "pop" (get bigger). is this true?

    drink it immediately after your workout. when you work out, you microscopically tear your muscle fibers and your body has to rebuild them. to prevent this from happening again your body tends to overcompensate and rebuild more muscle than was destroyed. that is the concept behind gaining muscle. to ensure that this process is happening correctly and in the most efficient way, you have to take advantage of the small window of opportunity called the short-term recovery period immediately following a workout. it lasts about 30 minutes, and your body is taking all the nutrients it receives and repairing the muscles as quickly as possible. so take your protein right after excercise and you will get the most out of your workout.

    also, remember to get plenty of sleep at night, a lot of the muscle building happens in a recovery period during the later stages of sleep.
