what are some abdominal exercises that dont involve straining of the neck?
whenever i do sit ups my neck hurts. i want to know some exercises with no machines neccessary and doesn’t strain my neck.

Someone told me a trick to prevent the neck hurting… put your tongue on the roof of your mouth and hold it tightly there…. this engages the muscles for the task they were intended. (Of course, never put your hands behind your head and pull.. put one finger in each ear instead.. it looks a little weird but you wont be pulling on your neck)
When you are new to abs workouts your six pack tries to find assistance from all the muscles groups nearby… but in particular from your lower back.. and your neck. After a few weeks of regular exercise your 6 pack will be used to the workout and you can take your tongue off the roof of your mouth when doing abs.
When you do a situp properly your neck shouldn’t be able to hurt. Bring your head forward so that your chin is resting on you’re body, then as you are doing the sit-up imagine you are drawing a line down the middle of you’re chest so that you keep it in the right position.
