Things about being a muscle builder?
Ok i have a little brother whose says that he wants to be a body builder and i’m 19 and hes 16 so he was thinking that i was a body builder because i’m so strong for a girl anyway, but i told him that he has to do a lot of heavy lifting with dumbells or something heavy that involves weights. But he wants to know like how heavy the dumbells have to be like a 8 pound to build muscle so i’m not sure? Or how heavy does it have to be to start out anyway? And like how long will it be before he will see the results?

There is no way he can become a body builder with just dumbbells. If he is serious about being a body builder, he needs to sign up at a gym, or spend thousands in weight lifting equipment.
ITS NOT ALL ABOUT WEIGHT LIFTING U HAVE TO EAT VEGGETABLES, PROTEINS, GOOD FOOD, NO JUNK FOOD AND U GOTTA BE SOMEWHAT FLEXIBLE
He has to see how many reps he can do before he gets to failure. Go ask a professional – but if he can do 3 sets of 15 really easy with a particular dumbell – then go up to the next weight.
These movements HAVE to be SLOW and CONTROLLED – not rushed to build muscle mass. They also have to be performed 3-4 times a week (doing a variety of proper exercises) and after 6 weeks should see an improvement.

You should work with weights with which you can do a maximum of 8-12 repetitions.
There is no general "right" starting weight but just what ever challenges your body.
Okay well you dont HAVE to lift weights although its a very good start. you can do push ups. statrting off at 10 in the morning and 10 at night and if thats too easy , do 20 in the morning and 20 at night. you can do diamond pushups, regular pushups, and other types of push ups. i Personaly have found pushups as the most effective quickest way to see results.it gets you stronger very fast. Trust me on this.and about the weights , he should s tart off with what he can handle , make sure its not too heavy because sometimes it can stop you from growing lol it happene d to my friend and now hes REAL short. hes like a mini Swachzenegger or however you spell it, lol well you can see more about the push ups in this video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmJ95NEQLbQ
