everyone is different when it comes to weight loss because of differing metabolisms, what counts is that you stick with your plan no matter how hard it is. Dont expect it to happen overnight, the part that kills most fitness plans is the lack of dedication

It will probably take up to a year or more. I am currently working on getting my six pack back, some fat is covering it up. If you have a flat stomach then you don't need to worry about the fat covering your abdominal muscles. If you do, then the first thing to do is cardiovascular aerobic activities, like jogging, swimming, soccer, and the like. If you already have a flat stomach then all you have to do is train the abs by weight lifting. If you only do situps, you are only lifting a portion of your body weight since your thighs and other muscles do a lot of the work. Its better to go to the gym and they have this machine that you can do crunches with any weight. If you can't then pull out the barbell, hold it with both hand, elbows perpendicular to upper arms, and then do the pushups with weights. Make sure you feel the muscles contract, (pain in that area is a good sign), if not then you are wasting your time building other muscles. Most people can contract their ab muscles without doing a situp, just concentrate on that area and have the muscles harden "contract". You can do this virtually anywhere, even at work, but watch out for the sweat.
    Good Luck.
