In general, distance running doesn’t help you get six pack abs. Distance running strengthens the back more than the abs. This can lead to an imbalance, that can contribute to injury. [1]
In general, I don’t know of any exercise you can do while distance running that can help you with the abs that will not also interfere with running.
Since you want to develop muscle tone, I recommend a strength training program using medium weights (resistance) with a medium number of reps. Work your abs and muscles you use for posture. It will help you with running in that it can reduce the likelihood of injury, as well as helping you to look athletic.
To start a strength training program, use light weights and very high reps (about 20 reps) for several weeks. This will prepare your tendons and ligaments for the training to follow.
Get further advice from a trainer. Keep opposing muscle groups in balance.
