    umm first you need to EAT EAT AND EAT SOME MORE! GO TO THE MANDARIN AND BIG OUT BECAUSE YOU ARE WAY TO SKINNY!! yea if you want a 6-pack, my advice would be to gain lil more wait then try to build muscle off that lil bit of fat you have not your bones that you currently have:P

    If you are 16 years old, 6 foot, and 140 lbs, then you are almost definitely under 10% body fat. And you are technically pretty "under weight" for your height, but hey — who am I to talk. I was a super skinny swimmer all through school.

    On to the topic:

    In my estimation, given your height, weight, and apparent lack of fat to begin with, it could take as little as 3 weeks to 1 month to see some SERIOUS definition if you are really committed.

    The great thing about abdominals is that you can work them literally about everyday, as opposed to other muscle groups in your body that need anywhere from 3-7 days to recover for another workout.

    The KEY in working abdominals, as in working ANY muscle group, is not to over-do it.

    Yes, yes… I just said you could work them everyday, but then said not to over-do it.

    Basically, what I mean to say is, START LIGHT. Do NOT let your ego take over in the gym, and do sit-ups and crunches until your abs feel like they’re going to explode. If you’re like me, and you LIKE the feeling of working your muscles to exhaustion, then just be patient, and you’ll get to the point where you can. The reason I say "don’t over-do it" too soon is that if you have weaker abdominals, you probably have fairly weak hip flexors by default. Hip flexors are VERY easy to pull, strain, or just otherwise "hurt" when doing ab work if you over-do it too regularly. {Side note: if you don’t know what a hip flexor is, you will soon enough – it will be the muscle on the side of your leg near your hip that will begin to ache (and possibly cramp) as you begin to do major ab work and work your body up a bit. One trick that helps is to get enough potassium in your body to avoid cramping – bananas are great for this}

    To recap: You can work abs every day, do NOT let your ego take over, start LIGHT and SHORT, and work your way up.

    I follow a strict ab routine (really only 10 minutes total of ab work 5 days a week) and I went from basically having NO abs to having really great definition in 3 weeks.
