since you and i are young it would take probably 3 weeks to notice them hope this helps.

This will vary considerably based upon your workout routine, dietary intake, body composition, and genetic profile.

In order to have strong abs that will show definition you have to work them out in a variety of different ways– not just crunches or sit-ups, but planks, hanging knee raises, and other ‘core’ exercises.

However, it is possible to have very strong ab muscles, but not have the classic ’6-pack’ that you might want. Strong ab muscles can still be buried under a layer of fat. You lose this fat by a combination of cardio (generally effective for burning fat while you are exercising); overall weight training (best for building muscle, which makes you more efficient at burning fat when you are not exercising); and proper nutrition (eating the right balance of protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs).

Generally you will not be able to see defined ab muscles until you are at less than 10% body fat. Given the workout regimen that you describe, it appears that you are on the right track. To keep challenging your body and building muscle while losing fat, I would recommend varying your routine (swimming in addition/as a substitution for running; trying new and challenging lifting routines) to constantly keep your body adapting and thus driving you toward the results you want. Combine those with proper nutrition, and with diligence and patience, you’ll get there.

    Good Luck!!
