It is possible to lose weight rapidly but you should be realistic and accept that if you lose weight fast then you will without doubt put it all back on again just as fast. I lost 10 pounds over the past few weeks when I had a special celebration to attend, and I did it by following the instruction supplied on the site in the box below.

    Two points:

You need to learn to feel/notice your muscles working. So when you exercise any muscle you can tell if you need to change your form to properly hit a particular muscle grouping. With that in mind, right now go do just a couple of sit ups.

-go on do those sit ups now-

What muscles did you feel working? It wasn’t your abs was it? In fact, you’ll probably have felt your hips, and bum, working as much as just the very lowest part of your stomach, and some straining of the very low back. Guess what you really haven’t been doing much for your abs!

If you switch to a core routine, featuring a variety of crunches (weighted, side, bicycle etc), roll-ups, leg lifts, planks, push ups, always feeling your muscles, you’ll get better results faster! Suggesting a routine is difficult, as the detail would be equivalent to a short book – so there’s your answer, look up "core exercises" on Amazon or similar and buy a cheap book, it’ll give so much more info than we can ever hope to here.

Second point, it doesn’t matter how much exercise you do unless you get your body fat down (though diet and cardio type exercise) your abs will not be visible. Oh, and sit up and even core workouts do not count as cardio!

400 a day seems to be too much. Honestly if you want results you want to do this over time. Start with maybe 50 a day and move up from there. Also changing your diet to less fatty foods will help trim belly fat. One more thing, don’t only do sit-ups. Run, jog, move your whole body to get an effective excercise. Good luck!

Not fast at all. You don’t need to do 400 sit-ups a day. Even 50 is enough, most of the six-pack look is about reducing bodyfat to reveal the muscularity.

Multi-hundred sit-up routines are a waste of time.

  • Paul Baumer says:

What I did to lose weight is do 200 GOOD sit ups EVERY morning before breakfast. Now that I have really nice abs, I do 100 leg lifts and 200 sit ups all in a row usually at night every other day at least.

You also want to make sure your abs are contracted as tight as possible throughout the whole exercise, up and down, this uses more energy and is easier on your back. This is why you often see trainers bumping the trainee’s abs, so he is inclined to contract his muscles to prevent a painful blow!

In addition, I used to play fast music and do a sit up at every beat for a whole song or two (or more, or doing sets) for a SUPER intense work out a few times a week (counting doesn’t matter here, just do it till your abs feel like they’re getting torn apart and you cannot lift yourself even if you tried)
