How do you get six pack abs?

I’ve been working on getting a flatter toned tummy but nothing seems to work. I run (try to do around 20 miles a week) and used to go to the gym, which never helped much. I’m 5′6" and 135 lbs and my chest sticks out a lot, which might prevent abs from showing. I also try to eat well, though I could use some improvement. Any advice?

Do sit ups with your legs pulled up to your chest……running won’t do anything for abs…….

You need to do crunches… at least 60 day every day. Cut out sweets and salts for the most part, so when your abs are firm they show.

You can try protein powder shakes, theyre sold at nutrition stores and vitamin stores. it worked for me. i dont have a 6 pack but my stomach muscles got very toned by taking the protein shakes every day and doing sit ups while sucking in my stomach and trying to strain stomach muscles at the same time. it really does make more of an impact than just doing regular sit ups.

You might be able to trim your tummy area but the ability to get a "6 pack" is actually genetic and relatively uncommon.

did you see the movie ‘300′?

did you notice that every actor had six pack abs?

men’s health did an article about the workout the actors had to do.

Not a lot of people know this, but getting six back abs does not necessarily mean doing 1000 crunches every night. Sure, fatiuguing your stomach is GREAT! But also nutrition has a lot to do with abs. (Which is not what most people want to here).

Try getting all of your vitamins in. Buy some vitamin supplements. Also, after your workout, drink a protein shake (which you can find at GNC or Wal-Mart), protein shakes are essential to the muscle building process.

Also, there are "breakfast replacements" that I like to eat. They take about 1 minute to make and supple you with every vitamin you need. (and they taste great). They are called Nestle Carnations and are awesome!

    So,
crunches, good nutrition, and protein shakes should help.

Also, you dont want to go crazy with your abs, you need to keep your body symmetrical. You don’t want bulging abs, you want a flat stomach with deep lines.

Hope this helps. Email if you need any help.

I wouldn’t worry that much about six pack abs. I may be wrong, but having some fat on your body probably isn’t bad. As long as you have a healthy body overall and your stomach isn’t overly fatty, I wouldn’t worry. However, since you asked, crunches/ sit ups do help I’m sure, but make sure you are lifting from your stomach. At least the way I do them and have read in a fitness book. You do not have to literally "sit up". You just want to lift your shoulder blades off the ground 3-6 inches and with your hands behind your head, but not with your fingers together. If this is a goal of yours that you really want to attain, try some workout books. I’m also guessing there are plenty of other workouts that aren’t explicit "crunches" or "sit ups" that will strengthen your abs. Also, saying you eat "well" is quite broad. I’d stay away from pop/alcohol and eat foods such as chips, candy, ice cream, etc. sparingly and in modertion only as a treat say once a week if you really want six pack abs.
